Gaborone, Botswana 2015

Spring is a time when Southern Africa comes alive. With the onset of the first rains, the birds pair up and nests can be foundtucked away in every tree, bush or patch of untouched ground. The weavers are one of the most striking symbols of Botswana’s spring, their elaborate nests resembling christmas baubles hanging fro nearly every Acacia tree. As the day comes to an end, the setting sun illuminates these creations of labour. After many patient hours/days, I managed to photograph the moment at which a female Southern Masked Weaver swooped in to assess the males nest, situated in a small tree in my garden
