No morning in the bush is ever the same, and the unknown expectation of the day ahead always heightens my senses. On this particular morning faint calls from a lone male lion woke me at four am. I got up, made tea, and sat on the roof of my car for the next two hours as the calls intensified. As the sun threatened to break past the horizon, I snaked my way along a winding dirt road in the direction of the booming calls. As I turned a final sandy corner, I was met by the powerful rim lit prowess of this incredible black maned lion. Some moments take your breath away by their drama, others by their sheer beauty.
