War paint

Chobe game reserve, Botswana 2019

An Africa Elephant gets agitated at the sight of another incoming herd. Dust flies off of its body as it aggressively shakes its ears in disapproval. This war paint is the result of the elephant covering itself in dust to protect its hide from insects and the intense summer heat in Chobe National Park, Botswana.
