Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, South Africa 2020
A black headed heron searches for prey in the wild flowers of the Western Cape, South Africa. While South Africa and the world still struggled with the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, the Western Cape and Namaqualand were transformed in colour. A carpet of flowers blanketed the land, as the annual flower display began. This natural phenomenon is breathtaking to behold. As the flowers lure in insects from far and wide, birds descend on the area in hope of an easy meal.
